MGS - Micro-Generation Systems

Microgeneration - The ability to generate your own energy
through solar, wind turbines, hydro power or heat pumps. We
work in the in the commercial sector of the renewable's energy
business, providing bespoke heat and electricity generation solutions.

We work in the commercial sector of the renewable's energy business, providing bespoke heat and electricity generation solutions. We have considerable experience of working with planners to achieve 10% on-site generation in line with the Merton Rule.

About Microgeneration

Our mission is to be collaborative, working in partnership with customers, colleagues in construction and the communities we impact.  We aim to be ethical and responsible to all stakeholders. We believe that good design can create substantial economic and social value.

Times are changing, the world has woken up to global warming, but it will be consumer demands, that drive the changes.

Photovoltaic Solar Panels

Photovoltaic solar panels use cells to convert solar radiation into electricity. The PV cell consists of one or two layers of a semi conducting material, usually silicon. When light shines on the cell it creates an electric field across the layers, causing electricity to flow. The greater the intensity of the light, the greater the flow of electricity. Wind Turbines

In the UK we have a large wind resource of 40% of Europe's total wind energy, yet it remains largely untapped, currently meeting only 0.5 per cent of our electricity requirements .Individual turbines vary in size and power output up to 2-3 megawatts. Further information on Wind Turbines >>

Small Scale Hydro Power

Hydro power requires the water source to be relatively close to the site of power usage, or to a suitable connection to the national grid. Hydro systems can be grid connected or stand-alone. Further information on Hydro Power >>

Solar Thermal

Solar thermal water heating systems gather energy radiated by the sun and convert it into useful heat in the form of hot water. Systems have been available in the UK since the 1970’s. Solar water heating systems typically work alongside a conventional water heater to provide hot water. Further information on Solar Thermal >>

Ground Source Heat Pumps

Because of the ground's high thermal mass, it stores heat from the sun during the summer. Ground source heat pumps transfer this heat from the ground into a building to provide space heating and, in some cases, pre-heating domestic hot water. Further information on Ground Source Heat Pumps >>

Air Source Heat Pumps

Air source heat pumps are suited to low temperature under floor heating of thermally efficient buildings and can be combined with domestic hot water heating. The advantage of an air source heat pump over ground source is that it does not require and ground work to install. Further information on Air Source Heat Pumps >>

Biomass

Energy from biomass is produced from organic matter of recent origin. It does not include fossil fuels, which have taken millions of years to evolve. The CO2 released during the generation of energy from biomass is balanced by the CO2 absorbed during the fuel's production. Further information on Biomass >>
